"This is one of the healing miracles in my mother's book..

Lillie and Sutton came to take me to another tent meeting. I think this was the third tent meeting I had been to. I truly had enjoyed the other ones. We were early, and sat about midway down the aisle. I sat on the end chair, next to the aisle, and watched the people as they passed.

A young black girl came down the aisle leading an older black woman. I thought she was blind, for she had to be led. I didn't see these ladies until they were passing me; if the young girl saw me, I was not aware, for she didn't look back. As they went by, I was looking at the blind woman when from within me the Spirit spoke, "Pray for her."

This was an unexpected shock to me, assuming that surely they had come for the preacher to pray for her. I recounted about how there had been so many dreams of praying for blind people that perhaps this was just me. But I had such a sad feeling inside, I said, "Oh, God, if you really want me to pray for her, let something else happen so I will know for sure it was you and not me." After this, peace came to me, and the service began.

Many times throughout the service I looked towards these two people who were sitting on the front row. If the girl glanced back towards me, I was not aware of it. After the service the people began going to the altar for prayer. I watched the young girl and the old black woman closely, but they did not go. "Well," I said to Lillie, "I was sure they would go to the altar for prayer but they didn't. We sat there until prayer at the altar was over and people began to leave after church was dismissed. About that time I saw the young girl get up and start walking up the aisel. I debated on whether she was leaving without the old blind woman. To my surprise, she came straight to me and put her hand on my shoulder.

"Miss, the old blind woman sitting on the front row wants you to pray for her," she stated, pointing at the back of the blind woman.

Then the realization came that it was God and not me. I happily told her "Yes", and got up to follow her, with Lillie following us. I took the blind woman's hand as she held them out to me, and started towards her eyes, for I was sure that was what she wanted. After all, hadn't I dreamed and dreamed of praying for the blind? But she pulled my hands down.

"No," she said, "pray for this growth in my stomach. That is what I want you to pray for. Feel."
There was a large lump, about the size of a man's fist when doubled up, in her stomach.
"Pray for this to be healed," she requested, "not my eyes."

She was still sitting and I was standing in front of her. I have prayed for many people, but this healing was different from any so far. I had only begun, "Oh, God heal this growth," when I felt great powerful force between us. The power was so great that it knocked me backwards to the ground; she also went backwards, chair and all.

I got myself up off the ground to hear her saying, "Praise God, thank you, Jesus, it is gone." Greatly excited, she asked, "Where is she?"

"Here I am," I replied.

"Feel," she said, pointing to her stomach, and I did. The growth was gone; there was no hard lump in her stomach as there had been a few minutes before.

By this time there were many people gathered around because of her loud praising of God. She began telling how the Lord had just healed her.

"Let's pray for her eyes," sad some of the ministers who were at the service, "while God is moving." Many people gathered around to pray or her eyes, but they were not healed, which was very sad. And although some of the preachers seemed disappointed because her eyes were not healed, she had much joy. She just kept praising and adoring the Lord Jesus and thanking God, as well as thanking me for praying for her.

Many, many times over the years I have wondered about this. How did she describe me to the young girl when she couldn't see? And I wondered about the Lord telling me in the beginning to pray for her. What did He say to her? On looking back now, how I wished I had asked some questions; but I asked none. There is one thing for sure; this was of God.

As Lillie and SUtton brought me home, we talked about this wonderful thing we had seen, for this truly was an instant miracle. To myself I thought about what God had said He would do through me and felt extremely happy, for surely He was doing just what He said He would.

For some reason, just as I have dreamed, He will heal one and not the other; this was healing one illness in a person and not healing another. Who are we to ask why of God? It is His Will that healings be this way, for He could just as easily have healed her eyes as her stomach. I have prayed for many people, in and out of churches; some were healed instantly, some within hours, others were not healed for a long time, and some were not healed at all. Why not all are is something I will not try to explain, but we know the Bible tells us that there is a time for all things. I only pray the prayer and the Lord does the work."
